Swansea University is a leading educational institution in Southwest Wales, with a top Medical School, renowned for its research. To support the introduction of new Pharmacy study courses, the University invested £2.1 million in a new state-of-the-art facility including a workshop/ seminar space, with simulated community pharmacy, four consultation rooms, a social learning space, meeting rooms, in addition to offices and breakout spaces for academic and professional services staff.

The University required audio visual solutions across the new pharmacy spaces to support the learning experience. In the Pharmacy Skills Suite, to enable active learning and group work, a flexible AV system was implemented.

To do

Utilising an NEC 5,000 lumens projector in conjunction with a Screens International electric projection screen at the front of the room for whole room teaching, in addition to three 65” interactive Iiyama displays with wireless casting capabilities for breakout sessions. For hybrid teaching, a Lumens PTZ camera and Sennheiser microphones were installed to enable high quality remote learning and lecture capture. 

To do

For a smart and easy to use lecturer set up, a Top-Tec Lectern sits at the front of the teaching space, complete with a BenQ monitor, WolfVision visualiser and Sennheiser SL Lavalier and handheld microphone set. To complement this, the lectern also featured a WolfVision CYNAP Pure for bring your own device (BYOD) wireless presentation and screen sharing – ideal for spaces where multiple lecturers will teach, for a hassle-free teaching experience.

Extron control is utilised in the Pharmacy Skills Suite, enabling visibility of the AV system on the central management platform, in addition to a 7” touch panel for ease of use (baseline functionality and to switch between room modes).
For an easily accessible and high-quality video conferencing solution, poly video bars, casting technology and zoom room technology were implemented into the meeting and common rooms. Comprised of a wall-mounted Iiyama 55” interactive display, Polycom Studio (all-in-one video conference camera and sound bar system) and WolfVision CYNAP Pure.
